About BACKtoGOLF

The concept for BACKtoGOLF originated in 1991 with H.J. "Bud" Ferrante, PT, OCS, and Tom Nix, Class A PGA Teaching Professional. At that time, Bud was in partnership with Richard Jackson, PT, OCS, at Ferrante and Jackson Physical Therapy in Fresno, CA. and he modeled BACKtoGOLF after the performance programs that they had developed.

H.J. "Bud" Ferrante, PT, OCS (Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist), is president and founder of BACKtoGOLF. Mr. Ferrante developed BACKtoGOLF in 1991 and it was the first program of its kind available on a national level for golf fitness, performance and rehabilitation. Bud has worked with many tour players, among them Tom Watson, Brad Faxon, Justin Leonard and Brandell Chamblee.

Mark L. Archambault, PT, MS, CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), is a partner in BACKtoGOLF and directs BACKtoGOLF research projects. Mark is currently completing his doctoral studies at New York University. He is examining the forces in the lumbar spine comparing two types of golf swings. Mark has extensive clinical experience working with hundreds of professional and amateur golfers.

What is BACKtoGOLF?

BACKtoGOLF is a unique, advanced, biomechanical-based golf rehabilitation and performance program that was developed for golfers who want to return to golf after an injury or increase their fitness level and golf performance.

The BACKtoGOLF program is based on a "biomechanical approach" to fitness, performance training and golf rehabilitation for golfers. The program is a result of years of clinical research and testing with hundreds of golfers who wanted to improve their fitness and swing mechanics, or return to playing golf after an injury.

Why is BACKtoGOLF a Better Golf Fitness Program?

The BACKtoGOLF program is based on a "biomechanical approach" to the golf swing. BACKtoGOLF examines how the body moves in space to support the golf club, NOT how to hit a golf ball. The BACKtoGOLF physical therapist evaluates the body's ability to perform the golf swing motion - flexibility, strength, balance and power. The PGA/LPGA golf teaching professional instructs the golfer in the proper set up position, grip and movement of the club. FIRST, the body must be able to move to the proper positions to support the golf club, only THEN can the golfer achieve a more powerful and consistent golf swing.

A Fitness and Performance Program for all Golfers

Many swing faults, inconsistent swings, injuries and poor rounds of golf are a result of the golfer's inability to execute a biomechanically correct golf swing movement.

Tight muscles and connective tissue lead to joint restrictions, resulting in loss of flexibility.  Improper exercises (or no exercise!) leads to muscle imbalances, resulting in weak golf muscles. Your BACKtoGOLF certified physical therapist will design a golf-specific program to meet your individual needs, providing you with rapid and long lasting results. A new level of performance on the golf course is now available in a convenient, affordable program that produces remarkable results in a very short time.

The pros on all the professional tours use physical therapists before and after their rounds. This same level of expertise is now available to you. Just like the Regular and Senior Tour players, the amateur and recreational golfer NOW has advanced techniques and professionals available to them. BACKtoGOLF physical therapists provide these services at tournaments such as the Pebble Beach A.T&T. Pro-Am, The Callaway Golf Invitational, and The Buy.com Tour.

Thousands of amateur and professional golfers across the U.S. and Canada have experienced the dramatic results of this program. Better swing mechanics, improved distance and accuracy . . . better, healthier golf.

BACKtoGOLF currently has a network of 80 licensed clinics providing physical therapy and fitness services for professional and amateur golfers individually and at tournaments around the country. For more information about the  BACKtoGOLF Network, visit www.backtogolf.com
